Volunteer at Summer Scamper

As a Summer Scamper volunteer, you’ll ensure that our participants, patients, and families have the best experience possible. Volunteers will receive a Summer Scamper volunteer T-shirt, snacks and refreshments throughout their shift, and a rewarding day of fun and high-fives!

What do volunteers do?

  • On the 5k course: Cheer on runners, hand out high-fives, wave encouraging signs, and keep the course safe. Bring your energy and enthusiasm!
  • At the Kids’ Fun Run: Help out on the Kids’ Fun Run course, cheer on our tiniest Scamper-ers, and hand out medals at the finish line. Volunteers should be comfortable working with children.
  • During the Family Festival: Hand out food and water, help with stroller parking, and oversee fun zones like the dunk tank and basketball arcade area.
  • As Medics: Staff our medical stations along the course or in the Family Festival (medical background required).

Want to help in other ways?

If our volunteer slots are at capacity, don’t worry, you can still get involved!

  • Help at Packet Pickup: Assist with pre-event packet pickups on the Thursday and Friday before Scamper Day.
  • Spread the Word: Share Scamper with your community! Speak about the event at a school club, PTA meeting, workplace group, sports team gathering, or any organization you’re part of.
  • Post Flyers: Hang up Scamper flyers in your school, workplace, or local community spaces (with permission). All participants must contact our volunteer team at Scamper@LPFCH.org to receive materials and guidelines before posting.

When are the shifts?

Volunteer shifts at Summer Scamper vary slightly in time but start as early as 7 a.m. and wrap up by noon. You’ll receive your shift details two weeks in advance, along with training for your specific role. All volunteers will receive a Scamper T-shirt, access to the Family Festival, and plenty of snacks and water throughout their shift!
